You might like to have a private airport here in Jacksonville, so I give you Jacksonville Executive, in the heart of downtown, with its landing area well-defined, and with a view of three blinking transmitter towers to light your way. How do you like that?
Named for Andrew Jackson, Jacksonville is the largest city in Florida. Indeed, in area (827 square miles), it's the largest in the world. It served as a Confederate base in the Civil War and, though 20 miles from the Atlantic Ocean, developed into a major deepwater port. The British composer Frederick Delius (1862--1934) made his home here on what is now the Jacksonville College campus; the house has been restored and is open to visitors.
I'm sure you'll want to try out your new airport, so take off and fly around a bit. Then try to get into a good approach position and land back here again. Note your compass and altimeter readings before you go.
