Airframe Icing

With Version 5.1, icing can be selected in cloud settings. If selected, airframe structural icing will occur when flying in temperatures near or below freezing in visible moisture (clouds). In real life, pilots would observe the accretion of ice to the wings and/or windscreen. With Flight Simulator, the only sign of airframe icing is the gradual reduction of airspeed. To reduce airframe icing, either fly outside the clouds or fly at an altitude at which the temperature is above the freezing point.
