Weight and Balance Limitations
Also before each flight, the pilot must determine that the aircraft is loaded within its weight and balance limitations. Proper loading of an aircraft is necessary for safe flight and to derive the published performance figures for the airplane.
Two considerations are included in weight and balance determination:
- That the overall weight of the airplane as loaded does not exceed the maximum permissible.
- That the arrangement of the load provides proper balance of the airplane from front to back. (See Figure 2.33.) Figure 2.33. Weight and balance includes both the total weight and its distribution—fore and aft.
