Is there anything else I can do for you?"

FILING THE FLIGHT PLAN -

You:

"Can you slip some of that coffee through the telephone lines?!! think I'll go ahead and file. It all sounds good to me."

Salinas FSS:

"Go ahead!"

You:

"IFR, November 9413MIKE, Cessna 182 RG - slash A, one two five true airspeed, Departure - WVI, one two zero zero Zulu, eight thousand feet, Route - AY NDB, direct MOVER intersection, Victor twenty five to SANTY intersection, direct EUGEN intersection, HADLY ONE ARRIVAL to destination Oakland. ETE is zero plus seven zero. Fuel on board five plus four five. Alternate - San Jose International, [YOUR NAME - CONTACT PHONE NUMBER - HOME BASE], two on board, Red over white."

Salinas FSS:

"Okay! Let me verify this somewhat. You want to fly direct from AY NDB to MOVER, right? Then also direct from SANTY to EUGEN?"

You:

"Yeah! Let's work with that, and I'll probably get vectors once I'm flailing around up there anyway! No problem from my point of view. Is it okay?"

Salinas FSS:

"Oh sure! I just wanted to make sure you weren't planning on Victor airway-ing it all the way through. Give me a moment to contact Oakland Center, and I'll have your clearance for you."

You:

"Thank you."

Salinas FSS:

"If you're ready to copy, I have your clearance."

You:

"I'm ready to copy."

Salinas FSS:

"ATC clears Cessna 9413MIKE to Oakland International Airport as filed. Maintain eight thousand. Monterey Departure frequency will be one two seven point one five. Squawk five six one six. Clearance Void Time will be one two one five Zulu."

Salinas FSS:

"Readback correct. Have a great flight!"

You:

"Thanks, and have the best day all day!"
